Being asked to photograph a newborn is such an honor. It’s a little like photographing a wedding. You can’t do it over, you must have patience, and if you miss the moment, its gone forever. Being asked by very dear friends to photograph their brand new, first child, is an even bigger honor. I am thrilled with how this shoot turned out! These new parents are total naturals. So much gratitude to Melinda of M Creations for designing all the stunning floral elements!
This little girl will steal hearts! An absolute angel baby! This photo shoot was so fun. You would never know that it was raining, and cold, and dark outside. We still captured gorgeous images that momma and daddy will cherish forever!
A Grandma's Love
Sometimes new moms and dads prefer to stay out of the photographs when a newborn is involved. Makes sense, as it can be a very tiring time for the parents. In this shoot, we focused on new baby brother, sister, and grandma. This is a great way to get grandparents involved in photographs, as they are often around for the arrival of a newborn, and glowing with pride!
Newborn babies are simply delicious. I always detail imagery during newborn sessions that capture the tiniest bits and pieces since everything grows and changes so quickly. There’s just something about those rolls and wrinkles and little features that makes you feel all warm and fuzzy.
Home At Last
I always go to my clients homes for newborn shoots. The best time to photograph these little beings is within 10 days of their entry into the world! Mom and dad are usually exhausted and by me going to their home allows them to relax. I bring everything we need, set up, and wait with extreme patience as we do all the tricks in the book to make baby fall asleep to capture some truly “once in a lifetime” imagery.
Meet Logan. He is Italian, Japanese, Hawaiian, and SO genetically lucky to have parents that are gorgeous, kind and talented! Benvenuto al mondo baby Logan!
Tiny Person, Big Personality
The best thing about photographing newborn girls is all the accessories!! From the minute they arrive in this world, we can dress them up! Here, I played around with all of mom’s favorite headbands for her new little princess. We even got a smile out of baby girl when we put her in the big white bow that says “Fabulous”. Of course!
It can be so much fun to play with props if one of the parents has a cool job like being a police officer! In this series of images, we really played up this aspect of dad!
