Teaching Glamour and Beauty Photography / by Kelly Kirlin

I was honored to be invited by the head of Brooks Institute's Still Photography Program to write and teach an Upper Division class, focusing on Glamour and Beauty Photography. The opportunity came after a brief stint substituting for Paul Meyer in his People Class in 2011.

In Spring 2013, I hired beauty photographer Karla Ticas to come to the school and shoot a beauty editorial as a demo for my students. I co-art directed since I was 8 months pregnant at the time, making shooting nearly impossible. Karla brought a team of stylists, and we created a beautiful editorial that went on to be published in the Fall 2013 issue of Zink Magazine. It was a perfect experience for the students to see a professional photography shoot from concept, execution and to the final product!
